Yamaha YTR-946GS Symphony C Rotary Trumpet (SN 20xx)

$3,299.00

Used Yamaha YTR-946GS Symphony C rotary trumpet with gold brass bell in silver plate.

Condition

Excellent. Minor surface scratches. A few stray solder marks on bell rim. Finger hook was moved closer to the player for a much more comfortable hold. Has been cleaned, polished, and adjusted. Case not included, but will be securely packed and fully insured.

About this model

The YTR-946(GS) C and YTR-936(GS) Bb rotary trumpets were developed by Yamaha's Lab726 research division based on designs of the German trumpet maker Josef Monke and in collaboration with German orchestral musicians. These instruments became sought after by conductors and Yamaha produced them on a made-to-order basis from 1991 to 2008.

Playing characteristics

An easy to play, traditional rotary C with a semi-heavyweight feel. Produces a lush, dark sound at moderate volume that brightens when pushed. Intonation is better than most piston C trumpets even in the typically troublesome range from middle D to G above the staff. Slots are precise, yet easy to navigate between. Response is very quick. Accepts American-style orchestral mouthpieces without issue, but responds even better with a Yamaha E-cup mouthpiece or German/Austrian-style mouthpiece.

Features

• Model YTR-946GS in silver plate
• Bore: medium .442"
• Bell: 5 7/16" one-piece gold brass bell
• Gold brass leadpipe
• Nickel silver inner slides
• Heavyweight yellow brass valve casings
• 3rd slide trigger
• Made in Japan

Shipping

$65 for shipping within the continental US via UPS Ground, which includes signature confirmation and shipping insurance.
